When she entered the room, she greeted me, and I initially felt welcomed. Before scheduling the appointment, she mentioned that she “doesn’t do appointments over the phone,” which I said was fine—assuming it was due to HIPAA regulations. She then said, “I only have two minutes, so I can step into the hall while you finish your call,” and it was at that moment I realized she simply didn’t want me on the phone. I hung up and continued with the appointment. During the visit, she told me, “I only took this appointment because they said you needed pre-op documentation.” I tried to clarify that this wasn’t the case, but I felt unheard once again. As the appointment went on, I sensed that she held a biased opinion based on what the front office had told her, which made me feel uncomfortable.

My previous Provider (Dr. Piontek) took time and demonstrated a genuine concern for me as a person. I left realizing Dr. Wheat does not want me as her patient and I will try to remedy this.

I am so thankful I found her. I worked for my primary care physician for 20 years. Moved to Jefferson City and for the past seven years, have struggled with finding a good fit for myself. And that is until I found Dr. Wheat!
