His knowledge as a physician has been very valuable in my care. He helped line up a care team for me to do my follow-ups with. This is something Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN should have done for me years ago.

The surgery appears to have been successful, but I don't recall speaking with him afterward. I would have liked to speak with him. My nephew said he was very patient with him after the surgery.

This was my first visit with Dr. Swong. I have been waiting for almost a year to get help with a work injury and was excited to finally get to the Dr that could possibly help me with my condition. I felt like he was in a hurry to get out of the room for the entire 5 ( maybe 8)minute visit. The whole time I was going over the timeline of what had happened to me, he was looking at his watch. Then he talks so fast I had a hard time understanding him.

Visiting Dr. Swong was a waste of time. I spent more time and had a more productive conversation with his nurse. Dr. Swong spent less than 5 min with me and didn't provide any value, guidance, or direction/plan. He didn't take time to understand how I may have injured myself, share what may be wrong/my diagnosis, or outline what my options are at this time. He referred me to Pain Mgmt and when I asked what my options would be he said he didn't know, PM would know best. For PT, he said the same, even though I have been in PT for this issue for 9 months without progress and asked what may help. Dr. Swong did not review with me the results of the MRI I took before my appt. I am not sure if he reviewed it. Dr. Swong recommended an MRI for another area of my spine where I had previous symptoms even though this is not an area of current pain or the purpose of my visit. It felt like my visit with Dr. Swong was a check the box exercise for him. He didn’t bother to get a history of my injury or spine in general, he didn’t have any feedback as to what may be causing my pain, and he didn’t share any plan of action or next steps. Overall, Dr. Swong did not show any interest or make an effort to connect with me as a patient.

He is quick and to the point. I was able to see him without going through a nurse practitioner first like other neurological surgery centers.

He is skilled efficient and described all that could happen so I was prepared. He said in the end the surgery was very simple given my situation but I had confidence in him and his staff. His fellow was also very good.

I was impressed with how thorough he was. He referred me to other specialists to put together a care team for my NF-1, in which I’ve never had. He was very personable and made sure I didn’t have any questions or concerns.
