I had my first reverse shoulder replacement done at Loyola. I was bruised from the waist up. Not just slightly bruised but significantly, hugely bruised, including the hand where the IV was inserted. With the replacement done by Matthew Saltzman, I am not bruised at all. I mentioned it to him, and he said that he learned from a surgeon he studied under to be careful with the tissue of rheumatoid arthritis patients. I appreciate that he took the time/effort to watch for this and resulting in me having a much more comfortable recovery.
