I felt very supported in pursuing my medications where it makes financial sense to get them from. I also really appreciated the offer to continue with weight checks and counseling even if Dr. Shakur isn’t the one running my GLP1 because of insurance shenanigans. She was very thoughtful about my past food insecurity, and had a very good manner

Dr. Shakur has a very big heart and an excellent knowledge base. I feel that she is growing into an excellent provider and has taken constructive criticism and feedback in stride. While discussing meal construction and caloric intake, I do feel that she makes some assumptions about “standard” diet and could benefit from more curiosity and questions to confirm or disprove the assumptions made surrounding lifestyle choices and activities. This last weight check did feel like she came into the room with a grading rubric to guide her conversation with me, and she slipped very quickly into setting goals FOR me instead of WITH me.

Dr Shakur is very thorough. She explains everything in laymen’s terms. Goes the extra mile for my healthcare and is very personable and kind. I’m happy to have her for my new primary doctor!!

This was my initial visit. Dr. Shukur listened and made suggestions to help me reach my health goals. She actually listened instead of typing on her laptop. It was really nice.
