Dr. Chouliaras basically saved me from certain death from Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to distant lymph nodes by the time it was discovered. I had been let down by so many doctors before (not recognizing I had cancer). I was told specifically I did not have cancer when, at that time, I had a 7 cm tumor in my colon. My first oncologist told me I would be dead in 3-5 years and there no way I was making it any longer. I came to MD Anderson for a second opinion after treating for 3 months in Atlanta where I live. I was treated by Dr. John [last name], who was/is the perfect doctor for me with both infusion chemo, targeted therapy and radiation (with Dr. [last name]). Dr. [last name] got me in a position where I was able to have surgery. Dr. C was able to remove the only apparent lymph node in my body that still had cancer. It was an open surgery and it went great. Coming out of the anesthesia went well. I never had any incision problems. I never had any other issues that might arise when you've had your body cut open. My recovery went well. Dr. C is knowledgeable, but extremely caring for the patients he treats. These three MD Anderson doctors made all the difference in my care and saving my life.

Dr. Konstantinos Chouliaras was absolutely amazing and spent a great deal of time with me to deliver in-depth explanation about my condition. He is highly intelligent and highly skilled. Truly, he is a gift from God, and I feel at great ease that he will be performing my surgery. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and I love, love, love the old baptist instrumental hymns playing in the background. It was so comforting and joyful. Additionally, I have to say that this is the most beautiful hospital I've ever seen and the views are breathtaking. I'm so very thankful that I will be in this hospital's care.
