What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
The office needs to communicate with the doctor better. I have called numerous times and left messages many times trying to get answers from my doctor. Staff never return my phone calls. When I spoke to the doctor about why couldn’t he answer my questions and get back to me and why couldn’t he send my refills through for me his answer was that no one related the message back to him. Very poor communication in the office and it needs to be addressed asap in my opinion. Peoples medical needs are NOT being met when meds are not being sent in. Very disappointing

Dr. Ockenfels takes very good care of me and my husband. Unfortunately he does not take new patients at this time. But we do praise him to others of how well we are cared for.

Office needs more staff to be able to answer calls as they come to the office with less hold time. The individuals and providers there are fantastic, but not being able to speak with a human on the phone to arrange care is not comforting and relying on a message is not confidence inducing even with automated follow up. Unfortunately, due to the lack of providers it has also been difficult to get an appointment for other care needs beyond my yearly physical.

In my 30+ years of experience with Dr. Ockenfels, he has always made me feel that all aspects of my health and well-being are very important to him. I have never been disappointed.

Yearly appointment is scheduled on time. Told to go to walk in clinic with same day or next day urgent appointments. I have never been able to get in to the office for urgent visits. Follow up ER appointments were scheduled way after the period that I needed to be seen.

He is the best dr that i have went to. He tries to get u un asap when needed. He listens to what ever you need to talk about. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr Ockenfels is awesome. Since MyMichigan took over the way the office is run it has become more business oriented and less of a small town atmosphere. Doctors, nurse practioners/physician assistants have left the practice. Unfortunately the replacement of these providers is not fully happening. I have been a patient at this office for over 35 years and at my last visit on [DATE] the only staff I recognized and knew was Dr. Ockenfels. Finally, patients used to be able to have lab orders and xrays performed at the office and this is no longer a service that is provided. MyMichigan in my opinion is putting an importance on the business and not the patient.

Dr. John Ockenfels has been my physician for many many years. He is thorough and he knows my needs inside and out. He’s extremely friendly actually we consider him a friend. I would recommend him 100,000 times over any other doctor.

I tell everyone that Dr OCKENFELS and the entire staff is great. Always helpful and smiling. Will go out of their way to provide EXTRA. I have also seen others such as lab and X-Ray. As always they were all so helpful, kind, and proficient in their jobs.

He listens carefully, takes you seriously, looks into your medical history, looks into your medication history. He educates himself into knowing all there is to know about you, from past to present. Which is so so so refreshing. Never had a doctor ever listen to me let alone look into my past medical history to help the ongoing medical issue. Leaving his office I broke down in tears. Because I was finally heard and had hope again where hope was lost. I’m forever thankful and grateful for Dr.O.
