That he’s awesome and it’s too bad MyMichigan War Memorial keeps losing good doctors. The doctors aren’t allowed to spend quality time with patients.

The doctor and nurses are outstanding. It’s a challenge to get an appointment so never reschedule if you can help it. It’s not uncommon to be scheduling 6 months out. There seems to be a high turnover of doctors and none are taking new patients

It’s tough to get an appointment because you are booked with plenty of patients but great service when you can get seen.

What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
The provider wasn't the problem and I don't know why I was told by his staff and everyone else that his contract was up because that wasn't the case at all! Evans is a good doctor I'm sad he's leaving because he's my only hope at this point... All these other doctors I've seen are not so much!

Dr Evans provided excellent patient centered care. I appreciated the idea that we were truly working as a team to reach goals. Renewed my faith in medical profession.

EXCELLENT Dr.! Personable, thorough, great listener, thoughtful, provided pertinent and meaningful health care…(unusual in this day and age when you are often rushed through and then have a prescription slapped on you and nothing else). Dr Evans was present, thinking and behaved like a team member. He was NOT on autodrive like so many other Drs. He was also very respectful. Can’t say enough about him.

FABULOUS Dr!! I am sorry that he is leaving. He was professional, thorough, seemed generally interested in providing meaningful and purposeful health care, listenened to my history, very present and personable.

It was great and it is really sad that he is leaving. It seems like we can’t keep doctors and the big question is WHY.

What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
I would tell them Dr Evans seems like a great doctor. He listens, seems to care, provides detailed information and is willing to listen to and answer all your questions. But, I would advise them to find a different doctor, outside of Heritage and the MyMichigan Sault system. It seems to be a poorly run operation. Support staff are not very helpful, They seem to not know how to navigate the system very well or aren’t receiving proper training and direction or they just aren’t very interested in being helpful or a combination of all. I would also tell them the wait times in the waiting room and in the exam room are ridiculously long. I would tell them about arriving for a 4:00 appointment at 3:50 and not leaving the office until 6:45.

What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
Dr John Evans listened carefully to my concerns as a patient and is sincere about wanting to help me reach health goals and be supportive and hold me accountable and also for me to hold him accountable as a partner in my health goals; these are very important to me and I’m grateful to have found a provider with these qualities.

I highly recommend Dr Evans but unfortunately you are losing him. This is a great loss to his patients and you as well. You should have tried harder to keep him.

Dr. Evans is a knowledgeable and compassionate doctor. He took his time to ensure my mom understood the plan and answered all of her questions. Highly recommend! He will be a huge loss to MyMichigan Sault. So disappointing they are letting him go because they are losing a valuable asset to the hospital.

First time visit with Dr Evans. Thoroughly impressed both my wife and I. Reviewed all physical findings and lab work with us. He answered questions concerning our current health completely to our understanding and satisfaction. Would follow him for health care. He is the type of family practitioner needed in our area. He is a keeper. We both are retired [ ], so we know a great practitioner.

Dr Evans is a thorough examiner and communicator. His confidence and integrity impressed me greatly after my visit. I am a retired [ ] and he is the type of physician needed in Sault Ste Marie.

What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
I have been telling people that he is an amazing provider that actually listens to his patients. He took the time to fully hear out my concerns, discussed various approaches to treatment and that I understood the issue at hand. He stressed natural options which I adored as a holistic patients and was very receptive in discussing my various active treatments. I couldn’t be happier with the experience that I had with Dr. Evans, I truly look forward to having him provide care for me moving forward. He’s the first doctor I’ve felt fully comfortable with and trusted in a long time! Can’t say enough great things.

He seems to be a very intelligent Doctor, listens to you, takes your health concerns seriously, explains things to you in ways that can be easily understood, and is helping me to figure out what's wrong so that we can fix it. It's too bad, folks say he might be leaving, I'll have to start all over, again, with a new Doctor, again, if this town can even get another Doctor here.

Dr Evan’s is the best Doctor I’ve work with. Went over my previous bloodwork in detail. Was a caring and relaxed conversation about my present and future health. Listened to my concerns and questions. Never felt rushed. I look forward to my health journey with Dr Evans

Dr. Evans is a wonderful doctor who really wants to help make you well! He leaves no stone unturned and asks pertinent questions. He answers your questions patiently. Both Dr. Evans and his nurse Amanda are empathetic, helpful and knowledgeable!! What a team!!

Dr Evans listens with care. One doesn't feel rushed thru the appt as too often happens with medical personnel. He provides info about your diagnosis and explains why he is prescribing tests/medication/etc.
