I know that results are posted in RENOWN My Chart . I receive a text when they are available to view. The results are always posted quickly which I appreciate. I also was offered a flu shot while I was with my provider.

I have found it challenging to establish a good patient–doctor relationship with Dr. Joan G. Thomas. In my experience, she often does not actively listen, making it difficult to have a productive conversation about my mother’s care. When supervisors or senior staff from Renown are present, she appears friendly and approachable (as in our last appointment). However, when alone in the exam room, her manner can feel authoritarian, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and reducing our confidence in the care experience. I have attempted to request a change of doctor within the Los Altos Renown Clinic. However, other physicians have expressed reluctance to accept my mother as a patient, often stating that the visit can be handled “for today only” and that future appointments should return to Dr. Thomas as the primary doctor. This has made it very difficult to transition her care, despite my preference to remain at this location for convenience. In my opinion, Dr. Thomas would benefit from additional training in patient communication and relationship-building to foster a more supportive, collaborative, and trust-based environment.

Dr. Joan Thomas is an MD and we appreciate the medical training and experience she brings to the office. There is a stark difference in the level of expertise and care that we are now receiving from her versus the APN and RNs that Renown likes to hire instead of MDs
