Dr. Lima is very good doctor. She is very knowledgeable and thorough and explained all the details of my type of cancer and the reoccurrence statistics. She explained the medication options and their success and their side affects. She listened to my feedback as I had severe diarrhea when taking Tamoxifen. She offered aromatase inhibitors as med treatment these can cause bone thinning. I already have osteopenia. She talked about quality of life and med causing other issues. Very much like hearing this approach from a doctor! She ordered a bone density test to see what my bones health is and I have a follow up appt. She is an EXCELLENT doctor! She is also very caring and kind, she looks at you and she smiles. She examined my breast and incisions and said they looked very good. This is provides comfort and reassurance! I am very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Lima!

My oncology doctors are the best of the best. A real trying time for me being diagnosed with breast cancer. They took time to listen and took time to explain my options. All appointments were on time. They were very knowledgeable about their field of expertise. I hope that I continue to be well and their remedies do the job for me. The front desk is awesome those two ladies on 7 th floor are over the top. Always remember me and my husband by name! They are cheerful and make you feel very welcomed! My team Dr Lima and Callie are the best ! Very knowledgeable ! They are literally my life coaches! My daughter keeps trying to get me to move to Tampa to be close to grandchildren but I will never leave my doctors !

I was so overwhelmed by the kindness, happy smiles, and sincere greetings everywhere I went on my first visit. I had been treated at another cancer center that lacked even the simplest courtesies of saying hello at the front desk. Everyone working at MD Anderson seemed to be doing their best to be positive and make me feel welcome. Also in my first visit I received a binder and informative Breast Cancer book which was so welcomed after having struggled for months trying to research and understand my breast cancer diagnosis. Having been let go by my former oncologist because I had chosen to forgo a treatment, I was left feeling lost. I called your facility and was treated with concern and respect. I am not under the care of a breast cancer oncologist for my after treatment care. I feel there is no better place than MD Anderson for cancer care.

I consider Dr. Avila-Lima a close friend, she listens, we joke both in English and in Spanish. I know and trust all of her advices and treatment choices. She is proactive when I have issues I think are minor but she pushes to find the reason for my issues.
