All of the above (Efficient, thorough, knowledgeable & caring). Plus: She took the time to explain what the results of my pulmonary functioning tests meant: one by one..she pulled them up & went through them with me - which is what I need to understand. She went the extra mile by pulling up my lung scan & literally showing me the lung nodules & telling me why they were of little concern to those who read the results (first time ever! & sooo reassuring!).. not just the size, but not clumped together, etc. She showed me that my lungs showed no signs of infection or pneumonia or anything else…that ruled out so many possible causes for my breathlessness. A huge relief. She took the time to listen to all of my symptoms- in a way that enabled me to explain them better & even understand them myself, without being dismissive. Then, after she heard all of that, she had me walk with her - with that oxygen thing on my finger - trying to take deeper breaths & especially exhaling with more force…& as we walked & I did that, my oxygen levels increased from 94 (which I know is not terrible, but is nearly always what I read).. to 97/98. This all allowed me to understand how much control I had over my own breathing & how important it is TO make an effort to breathe/ more deeply & exhale more fully.
