Dr. Punsalan listened to all my questions (new mom here) and helped ease a lot of my concerns. My son loved her and she made going to the doctor fun for him.

First off the nurse working at the sick clinic along side of this doc has extremely poor bedside manner and is condescending. This is my second time having this nurse and never enjoyed the experience. Offering an opinion which was not asked for or warranted as she is not the doctor. Was appalled when I spoke about refusing covid testing for my 9 month old as parents are vaccinated and tested negative. At 4 months old this same nurse pushed covid testing and we reluctantly agreed- was charged $160 as insurance did not find the test necessary. Not interested in dealing with a traumatized baby and cost. Please encourage that nurse to keep her rude opinions to herself unless directly asked. The nurse was also appalled that I was even considering flying to California to see my child’s grandparents. “Well you’re basically putting the entire plane at risk because you are choosing to fly with a sick child� is what the nurse stated. Once again, I didn’t ask for her opinion nor does she know my personal life and why I am choosing to take my daughter to California. I cannot emphasize how extremely unprofessional this nurse is. The doctor treated me similarly because I was not interested in covid testing. I inquired about checking the ears as she was previously dx with a budding ear infection and wanted to asses if her ears looked okay to fly. Was curious on the sx of a fever of 100.4, congestion, runny nose, cough. “Could be a virus, antibiotics don’t work for a virus and we don’t test for viruses� Super interesting as NM only tests for Covid virus? But there is an RSV virus test however the doctor didn’t seem interested in providing it to my daughter despite my take home paperwork giving me information about RSV which the doctor never even verbally addressed. Really frustrated and let down with NM—very sad because her regular pediatrician from that practice is awesome.
