Her expertise and personal commitment is unmatched. I had a very difficult pregnancy and delivery, with numerous complications, and I always felt well-cared for and supported with Dr. García and her team.

Her bedside manner was amazing. She walked us through the miscarriage, medically why it happened and ensured us it wasn’t our fault.

After seeing Dr. Garcia multiple times and having an expectation for her personality and care one can tell she is a caring physician. She’s very businesslike and professional vs ‘warm and fuzzy’ but none-the-less and great doctor who I trust and would/will continue to see.

Dr Garcia was incredibly affirming and was clearly well versed on the most up to date research re: weight and pregnancy outcomes.

She was fine. However, if I had a choice I would not see her again. She was abrasive asking for exact data points related to my diabetes, some data elements that don’t even exist to my knowledge. While I understand her concern about diabetes management, I had just met with the endo team. When asking about meeting with Northwestern’s lactation consultant upon delivery (suggestion provided by the lactation consultants at my work not to mention at smaller hospitals every mom is visited by one) I received pushback. She also asked me about birth control post baby (I was 32 weeks pregnant) which is fine, although rather early, as it’s something I’ve already thought about but it felt as if she was pushing a certain method after I shared I’ve done my research and that particular option is not a path of interest of mine. Ultimately, I didn’t get warm, fuzzy, comforting vibes and this is the second dr I’ve felt this way with. I do recognize that perhaps I’m a bit sensitive. I just find it’s more difficult to feel connected with some of the drs in the MFM practice. Perhaps it’s because it’s not my OBGYN who I’m used to and have history with? There is difficulty of forming a relationship without that long term history and being seen by them on a repetitive basis especially since I’m only with MFM for just 6 months. I will say I am confident my care is in the hands of highly regarded, top of their class, MFM professionals which at the end of the day is valued the most.

I’m really grateful for Dr. Garcia’s care this pregnancy. Last pregnancy, I met primarily with Dr. [ ] who I loved! I was worried when I found out he was no longer with the practice. Dr. Garcia has put my concerns to rest with her knowledge, kindness, and time. She’s never in a rush and always teaches me something about my health.

At my last appointment with Dr. Garcia, I had to question why I was not getting another ultrasound for the remainder of the pregnancy given my history with my first and his lack of growth. She said because the current baby was fine on the last ultrasound 4 weeks ago but to not have an ultrasound considering I am high risk for a 10 weeks+ is ridiculous. She later came back and told me she reviewed the notes and I should get an ultrasound in the next few weeks. However, I shouldn’t be the one to tell her that as the patient. She is the doctor and should know my history but doesn’t because I am being seen by a different doctor every time. On top of that, I had several other questions and with her mannerisms kept making me feel stupid for asking the question, like my question was dumb. As a doctor that’s not very good bedside manners and for my next appointment I changed the day I am coming in because I don’t want to be seen by her anymore.

Dr. Garcia has no bed side manner or empathy. I was offended and hurt by the way she treated my concerns and by her lack of understanding of Type 1 Diabetes and the herculean effort that I have put in to control my blood sugar during pregnancy.
