I may have shared this before, but she moved QUICKLY to get me scheduled for surgery. I’m guessing she had a hunch my tonsil might have been cancerous. That said, as quickly as she moved to schedule, she’s been thoughtful and deliberate with next steps with the rest of the care team. A delicate balance she mastered.

Dr. Stepan probably saved my life. In a world where scheduling can be a nightmare (before I worked with Dr. Stepan, time was measured in weeks), she was the first doctor to see my concerns about the inside of my mouth, and moved QUICKLY to get me scheduled in less than a week. I'm guessing she had a hunch there was cancer and that's why she pressed to get me in. While she moved quick to act there, she has finely balanced that with a calm and measured approach with next steps and consultative with the care team. Again, Doc probably saved my life.

Dr. Stepan strikes me as a no-nonsense type of person and the type of doctor I usually have a hard time with. But that all changed when I let down my guard and showed her how terrified I was with the procedure I was about to have. True fear. Doctor said something to me no other doctor has ever said to me: “We will take care of you. You will be alright.”’ It was the tone of voice and the look in her eyes that reassured me. I instantly felt better because I believed her.
