I was a first time patient. The doctor did not do the examination or assessment. The Assistant and student stood the entire time. When the doctor came in was dressed as if her were ready for a GQ model photo shoot. hurriedly began to explain three options, I interrupted and asked if he could show me what he was referring to and write it down his pause and demeanor compelled me to say 'well for me it is a lot of information' The doctor said notes would be found on My Chart without asking if I had access to the internet. He continued to rush through and abruptly ended and asked ' so what do you want to do' I said I needed to think about it because it was a lot of information to digest and he got up and walked out and went away. The assistant returned with a copy of gym shoe option I asked some questions about surgery options and she spoke too fast for me to capture and fully understand. I was compelled to ask her 'why is everyone talking so fast and in a hurry?' She failed to clearly and calmly differentiate the difference between the options including the doctor. I selected this doctor based on patient reviews and viewing his video on the Northwestern Hosp website. My experience was the complete opposite of the reviews. I've learned the hospital only posts positive reviews (bias)

Great table-side manner. Dr. Tan takes his time to make sure you understand the issues, course of treatment, etc. Dr. Tan is also not quick to start ordering expensive and time consuming tests until he knows theyre needed. His medical assistant and nurse are really awesome too.
