I have been to almost half a dozen rheumatologists before Dr. Gierut. None of them were validating of my pain or my condition and they all wanted to just look at bloodwork and tests instead of taking in my whole condition and my symptoms. Dr. Gierut was the one who figured it all out: I have [diagnosis], meaning it's non-radiographic, meaning you don't see it on scans. It's sero-negative, meaning it doesn't show up in the bloodwork. So it took someone who was willing to look up from the computer and see ME, not my numbers, but ME. Autoimmune patients are the redheaded stepchildren of the medical system, and frankly we're used to being treated like dirt by doctors. Dr. Gierut is DIFFERENT. And THANK GOD for that. Dr. Gierut listened to me talk about my stress levels and how they affect my overall health as an autoimmune patient. She was so caring--I was crying and she was handing me tissues and validating how hard some of the stuff I'm dealing with is. She had some suggestions for me to de-stress so I'm not hurting as much. And we went through my meds one at a time to determine what's helping and what isn't, and then she suggested I come in sooner than 6 months to see if maybe the change in meds will help more than the medication we're swapping out. Dr. Gierut is an absolute treasure and I am so grateful for her care.

All that I wrote above is really about Dr. Gieret. But if I was to answer the previous question here about the practice, I would say the staff is attentive, professional, and they don’t turn over. It is a smoothly run office.
