Perhaps it was my fault, but I did not fully understand the reasoning behind my medication. I do now.

I think I finally understand her approach. It’s taken a long time. She silos therapy as separate from her work and that surprised me. She has always been very direct. This is both a strength and weakness. She could practice disagreeing with other professional opinions a bit more diplomatically. She got there and I understand her point and found it helpful. It’s the beginning of the explanation that could be reshaped for laity.

She was helpful but condescending. I left the appointment feeling minimized. This is yet another Northwestern doctor who has invalidated the psychological impact of my medical trauma.

We were assigned Dr Corcoran during the start of the pandemic when our regular psychiatrist felt the institution. The patient is special needs so caregiver is mom and her sister (me) have to communicate all of the patients needs. The pandemic was hard for the patient the lack of social interaction and an abrupt changed on her schedule was hard which added to her depression. Dr. Corcoran adjusted her medication which helped and we also learned we could increase during the dark winter, only. For the we are forever thankful. We appreciate all the education and information she provide us with to help the patient my sister.

She took the time to ask questions and fully understand the issues I face in order to appropriately care for my needs. Her concern for getting to the bottom of issues instead of putting a bandaid over specific problems let me know she is genuinely looking to help.

She was effective at communicating about coming to an agreement with me about how we should proceed with my treatment rather than just telling me what I’m going to do without any consultation of my feelings.
