I was seeing Dr. Carroll for my cancer checkups until he retired. I really liked him and trusted him to be a great doctor and also to be honest with me. He recommended that I start seeing Dr. McGammon for check-up s when he retired. Her office called me last November to change my appointment because she was going to be in a meeting. So I went to the changed appointment and met her and was confident that she checked me really well. She was very dry and not personable. Being somewhat personable from a doctor toward a patient gives the patient a little more comfort and confidence in the doctor. This appointment on 11-28-2023 was very frustrating. I showed up on time and when called back to a room, was then told that the doctor was in a meeting and that it would be a good while before she got back. I could either wait a long time for her or let the nurse practioner do the exam. So I let the nurse do the exam. He was very nice, personable, and pretty thorough. I feel like he did a good job and he was very nice. My problem is two-fold. First of all, I didn't make an appointment with the nurse practitioner, I made it with the doctor. Secondly, if patients cancel at the last minute, or don't show up at all, doctors and hospitals want to charge the patient anyway. But it seems to you folks that it's ok for the doctor not to show up at the appointment time. How is this right or fair? How is this good practice or good patient care? You folks need to take a long, slow look at yourselves and ask yourselves is this the best we can do? Do we want to be treated in this way?
