Dr. Shields is great and I’ve been seeing him for a long time. I would not recommend him to another person due to the long wait times

This is my probably 10th year seeing Dr Shields. It has always been a huge issue about wait time. I spent four hours there yesterday. I literally had one test done on my eyes 10 minute test. I saw the resident for 5 to 7 minutes and I saw Dr Shields 5 to 7 minutes. I honestly believe this is a scheduling problem because at 10 AM Dr Shields is already an hour and a half behind and that’s because scheduling is overwhelming him and the staff it’s incredibly frustrating that it has literally been like this for 10 years and no one seems to value anyone’s time I missed a very important oncology appointment with my mother yesterday because I was there past three hours, which is absolutely ridiculous for an appointment that could’ve been done in 30 minutes. I believe you all know this has been an issue for a while but yet no one seems to care enough to do anything about it it’s incredibly sad that this is just become the normal every time you go for a visit at Dr Shields office. It’s really not that hard to try to do better. Everyone’s time is valuable!!!!!!

I have been here several times and always received very good care. Most visits have been with residents, however I would like to see and communicate with Dr. Shields occasionally.

Dr. Shield has been my doctor for years even when I went to live in Arizona for eight years I would not let them do any type of surgery because Dr. Shield is the only one that did my cataract surgery and he took very very good care of me he’s very nice patient adequacy I would recommend him to others very highly if he was to ever leave I will follow thank you, Dr. Shield. I love you and may God bless you and your family and the staff that you work with.

The girl who originally took care of me didn't seem to know what she was doing. She kept blaming the machines for not acting right, used her phone quite a bit (for instructions on how to work the machines?), and even scotch-taped my left eyelid to try to keep it open more. She kept telling me to "open your eyes", which I did as much as I possibly could, and even during the tests kept telling me to "blink". She did not seem to know how to send the resulting pictures to the ones that needed to see them. I don't know if they ever did see them... The next doctor didn't seem to spend much time with me, or even use the machines they usually do, other than to find out my eye pressures.

Dr. Stephen shields has been with me for almost 20 years. It’s been a heartbreaking relationship in the sense that he’s watched me have eyesight, lose eyesight and then get a prosthetic in my right eye. He is absolutely knowledgeable about what’s happening with my eye and has always been very respectful, kind, and I feel very included in our medical relationship. I hope to be with him for another 40 years. I don’t know where I would be without Dr. Stephen shields the eye is a very personal part of the body and I wouldn’t trust anyone with it. I drive over 2 1/2 hours to see because of how valuable he is in my family’s life in terms of caring for my eye.
