The sincere heartfelt caring is too much to describe. The fact that I am 72, you would think that the caring, the current status, the outlook for the future, would be just enough to sustain. But I was treated like I was in my 30's and I had a whole lifetime to go yet. I just cannot describe how thankful I am for Dr. Ritsema. It is NOT superficial. It is genuine from the heart.

I believe I have said it all! I'm looking for medical leadership and what I get is diet plan talk. It's important to have a good diet, I agree. However, when you are recovering as I did, recovering becomes the narrative!!! It's been that way from the beginning. Good guy, but not extremely knowledgeable from a medical perspective, in my opinion!

Dr Ritsema is an outstanding man. I can trust him. He listens to me and does not judge me. He takes the time to " dumb it down" for me to make sure I understand whats happening, or what I need to do, or why I need to take something.

My son, who is 40 years old and a high functioning autistic, also sees Dr. Ritsema and he is so kind and explains things very well to be. I told my son that Dr. Ritsema told me something very interesting at my appointment, and he said yes, he told me that too. So he is listening!

I think He did jump to conclusions prematurely when he said I would probably be on Eliquis for the rest of my life. That is his opinion and it might be true but I am hoping my emergency room doctor is correct in that my clot will clear and I will only be on Eliquis a short time. Who wants to be on this medicine for life?

This was a wellness exam. no one checked his blood pressure, temperature. Dr., no check reflexes or things like that. he looked at his ear because I requested it. He is a late-stage Alzheimer's patient. I brought him in due to being refused to renew his prescription because he had not had a Wellness exam, which was 3 weeks before his birthday. This was not Ritsima; he was on vacation. I care for him at home. A large part of the Trinity staff I have come in contact with, being his caretaker, treats him as a dead man walking. It is very sad. I will start looking for a new doctor, it was evident to me. We are not wanted as patients with Trinity Health. After all the years we've done business with you, now he's very ill, and when we need medical help more than ever, we get more attitude from the staff in Jenison than we get compassion or help. So, outside us both getting a flu shot, the total time the doctor spent with him was less than 10 min. So why was it so important we had this wellness exam? I was asked if there was anything else, I had already shut down wanting to refrain from saying things and being up set. So I just said no.
