The neuro-ophthalmologist Dr is extremely nice, as is (most) of the staff. But considering the wait time for the patients, is extremely unacceptable. 3 hours for a check up, is a bit extreme. I love UAB, and all the Drs I see there, this is my only complaint, especially with this department.

Dr. Vaphiades is such an amazing person and dr. He takes the time to explain everything and I feel like he cares about me and my diagnosis. He is very personable and I feel comfortable talking to him. He always gives me gems of information and refer me to outside physicians as needed. The student interns are absolutely amazing as well. Thank you UAB Callahan!!!

I have been seeing Dr. V for the past three years. I have always been treated with upmost respect and kindness from the staff and the doctor. I have recommended his practice several times. I’m always treated with kindness and utmost care.

Dr.V and his staff are all very nice and listen to you about your problems and do every thing they can and Dr.V knows what to try until he is ready to write a new prescription,he also is very nice and wants to hear if your new prescription helps or not.

While the testing was thorough, as my husband’s caregiver I felt like at the end of the Dr visit his diagnosis really wasn’t explained enough that a senior citizen could understand. I had to keep asking questions to find out enough information. Maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be though. Main thing is we have answers.

From check in to check out it was a pleasant experience. Blair set the tone and the rest of the staff kept it going. Dr V. Is great and explain things very thoroughly.

Grateful for the care received!
Dr.Vaphiades extensive knowledge in my opinion saved my eyesight!
After I had been to several other doctors for months with no success and my eyesight failing further by the day.He was able to diagnose a condition that did not present itself in the normal fashion.
I was immediately set up with a proper and expedited treatment plan that successfully corrected my particular condition.
Dr.V's genuine concern with my treatment and recovery is refreshing and unfortunately seldom seen these days.
UAB is so incredibly fortunate to have a person of this caliber teaching future healthcare professionals!
