I was so happy with my care at HSS I literally cried. I had been searching for explanations to my pain for over a year. I saw 4 specialists prior to Dr Ast. I was told I’d have to live with the pain and use a cane. Dr Ast not only understood what I was describing but made a diagnosis and a treatment plan. I will never go anywhere for orthopedic care except HSS.

I’ve never received such good care related to my health. Dr Ast is knowledgeable, kind and caring. He made me feel relaxed on the day of the surgery. Post surgery, Dr. Ast’s team took excellent care of me. I appreciate everyone.

Dr. Ast was wonderful. He clearly explained my hip problem so that I understood my choices and options. We discussed the pros and cons of a hip replacement which he clearly articulated the risks and benefits. He gave me confidence in his approach to a hip replacement. I made the decision to move forward with the replacment as a result.

This is the 2nd hip surgery Dr. Ast did for me and my experience was extremely good. Dr. Ast is a brilliant surgeon and an extremely likable human being. I am going recommend him to my friends and family.

My confidence in Dr. Ast is evident, lol. I had my left hip done with him in December, and I returned to him in April to have my right hip done. I pretty sure that shows how confident I am in Dr. Ast and the HSS team.

I came to HSS after my ortho stopped doing knee surgeries and I did not care for docs he referred me to - who were very brash, cocky and mechanical. Dr Ast speaks straight, but he also explains things so my husband and I could understand how to prep, what to expect during/after surgery, etc. I made the absolute right choice in selecting Dr Ast, and couldn't be more thankful for the outcome of both surgeries (2 knees, 5 mos apart) and grateful to Dr Ast and his HSS staff.
