I feel this provider could work on slowing down her speech and appearing more empathetic. She had a smile on her face the whole time, while I can appreciate a positive attitude, a smile is not always appropriate especially when discussing the loss of a fetus.

was told that my body doesn't care about taking care of my baby and would rather just take care of me... and that isn't true because even when losing weight from being nauseous, the baby was doing great and getting everything he needed. These blanket statements make it hard to build trust with providers.

I had an endometrial biopsy and Dr. Mathis was super attentive and took the time to answer all my questions before and after the procedure.

My doctor left my appointment, again, because she said she had to go meet with another patient. She then would “come back and finish the appointment.” I felt like she should have stayed with me for the duration of my appointment, and then went to her next patient. This was extremely frustrating for me, as this is the second time this has happened with this provider.

I think Dr. Mathis means well and is very educated, but just have not had great/comforting/reassuring communication with her. I don’t always feel like my questions/concerns are fully answered.

Dr. Mathis is so compassionate and caring. She took excellent care of me and always took the time to answer my questions. She even spent time on the phone with my husband when he had questions. We never felt rushed. She's the best!

At first, I thought Dr. Mathis was a little pushy with her approach. I had some anxiety leaving the last appointment because I felt like she gave me SO much information at once. Getting used to a new provider is tough - like starting over again - but Mathis knows her stuff and clearly knows the most current studies. She got me thinking about my future reproductive health a lot more than I have been so I'm thankful for her different approach.
