What would you tell family and friends about your experience with this provider?
I told my daughters who were worried because this visit to Dr Garlinghouse was an after hospital visit. I was hospitalized at U Of M - Sparrow for a week for new onset of A-fib. Dr Garlinghouse reviewed my hospital cardiac summary, explained to me a little more about A-fib, and reviewed my meds & talked about my HTN & lifestyle / dietary habits. I was impressed & told him he was so smart. I’m happy he’s taking care of me & that’s what I told my family. They were pleased to hear too.

First the receptionist was totally friendly. She was kind n we had a laugh about something. Great lady. Dr. Garlinghouse is always kind, smiling n very thorough. Listens well n has cares n concerns about my health which is his great asset...as any Dr should be but he goes beyond.

Dr. Garlinghouse listens, is thorough, congenial, friendly, professional. I've enjoyed meeting with him, and discussing a variety of health issues and needs. I would easily recommend him to others. Some others on staff seem to be in a hurry to get through procedures, spend more time looking at the computer than interacting with me. When I think I'm there for my health care, I would prefer staff to more deliberate, receptive. Being professional, in my opinion, in a health care environ includes relating to me as a person not a client. As to follow up after blood tests, I have not heard from a person but received an email. Once I tried to set an appointment for a specific pain and was told it would be two months out, or I could go to urgent care, which is 35 miles away. When Dr. Slater was the sole provider, I could get an appointment for a specific pain either that day or the next. I recognize the facility is busy, that's the nature of health care in a rural area.
