I recently had revision orthopedic surgery with Dr. Moravek after a challenging and prolonged battle with a resistant bacterial infection and radial nerve damage following my initial surgery at another hospital. I’m incredibly grateful for the outstanding care and expertise Dr. Moravek provided throughout the entire process. Not only did he address the infection and the underlying issues, but he also considered my long-term goals of returning to work with full function.After struggling with complications from the infection and nerve damage, I was understandably frustrated and anxious about the prospect of undergoing another surgery. Dr. Moravek’s thorough approach and clarity immediately put my mind at ease, and I felt confident in his ability to handle such a complex situation.What really stood out was how Dr. Moravek made sure the revision surgery wasn’t just about treating the infection, but also about helping me return to a functional state that would allow me to resume my career as a veterinary surgeon. He took into account the demands of my job and ensured that my recovery plan was designed not only to combat the infection but to help me regain strength and mobility for my long-term professional goals. His dedication to my overall recovery was evident in every interaction.The careful management of my infection, paired with his focus on my future functionality, has made a significant difference in my recovery journey. My father was a GP as they were called in those days in a rural area. Growing up I witnessed hundreds of patient visits when I went with him on house calls and hospital rounds at night after he had finished seeing patients in the office all day. The manner in which Dr. Moravek engages me in my visits reminds me of how my father engaged his patients. He obviously loves the practice of medicine and helping the patients who come to him for care.

This survey is based on my most recent experience. Whether the surgery & my recovery fall within the 80% success rate remains to be seen. And that's what matters most. But yesterday I waited 45 minutes in the back room for Dr. Moravek to appear. And whatever made him late he was working to 'catch up' by rushing or abbreviating my time. I felt churned.
