After having the same surgeon for 20 years and retiring to have to find a new one was very challenging but when I found Dr. Dowdell it seemed too good to be true! From the moment we met through every step until surgery and there after has been nothing but the best care and quality of service one would hope to have. He listened and understood my prior history and worked with that and around it to make this surgery the best outcome it could be. He gave me a surgical option and non surgical option but for me i went with the surgery and very happy that I did. Even since the surgery the care of Dr Dowdell has been exceptional.

Dr. James Dowdell is a wonderful person and doctor. He gives me guidance and suggestions to help with my spinal pain issues. He performed spinal surgery on me two years ago and fixed the worst of my pain and the whole experience was easier than I could have imagined. 👍👍

HSS is a machine, in the best sense of the word. This is what healthcare should look like. From scheduling to intake to nursing to my appointment with Dr Dowdell, HSS staff were personable, professional, knowledgeable, kind, and absolutely efficient. What a remarkable facility.

Never felt safer! I could not have had more confidence and trust in my surgeon! Actually both surgeons, but Dr. Dowdell is the gold standard by which all should be measured.

I was impressed with Dr. Dowdell and his PA in regards to how they approached my problems. Rather than being a sounding board, they exhibited a genuine problem-solving approach to a solution which we are currently exploring.

Dr. Dowdell listened to my concerns & treated me with care & respect. He did not rush me into a decision as he clearly explained his approach and rationale for my surgery- which was assuring. Dr. DowDell is a great Doctor! Easy to talk to and understands and always helps me! Everytime I have a question or concern or just an office visit. He did my back surgery and I am very happy with this doctor. I’m glad I went to HSS.
