I'm not sure how to rate the surgeon's skill. He is well regarded which I way I wanted him to do it. But I have no frame of redeemable and won't know for sometime if the surgery achieved its objectives.

I never saw the surgeon post-op and that was a bit disappointing however his skill set is tremendous and I am very grateful

Dr. Darren Lebl at HSS in Manhattan is hands-down the best. He saved me from years of pain with my spinal fusion-did exactly what he promised, no surprises. Super friendly, explained every step like I was family, and the results? Perfect. If you're hurting, go see him. Five stars isn't enough."

Without Dr. Sama, I would have died of a spinal hematoma or paralyzed. The communication between staff and Doctor was timely and appropriate. I can't thank him or his staff enough for recognizing the emergency and acting upon it with due diligence.

This is my third surgery by Dr. Sama and first with with Dr. [ ]. Like my previous 2 surgeries, both doctors informed me what the surgery entailed before and after. I have a good sense of what was done.

Difficult to comprehend what was accomplished and how I feel at this time. I never had to take any pain medication. Other than the neck collar and sleeping, hard to complain. The precision and attention to details were tremendous.

I was relieved to see Dr G before surgery and after before I was discharged (early - my roommate had been tough, and another one was on her way in - thought she and her family were much nicer). It just was a lot of necessary noise so I opted to get up and out to my sister's asap. Dr Girardi stopped by at 6:30pm - prob after his last surgery and it felt good to talk to him briefly vs. Get the news via my sister that things went well. He said I really needed the surgery and that meant a lot and then another huge boost was that he said my L4-L5 was in decent shape and I was so happy. He also said he repaired my nerve and that the more I walk, the more the tightness would go away (which I was feeling). I can now feel my left toe, my butt doesn't go numb and my left foot doesn't drop. I am sore but pain-med free and my doorman said day 5 post-op today that I am walking so much straighter and I was like I AM?? They've seen me at my lowest, so that, too, meant a lot, and I have Dr Girardi to thank.

He came before the surgery. He calmed me down and explained everything again. Most importantly, he relieved my pain!!!! Awesome surgeon with great personality!

Dr Lebl has been an absolute lifesaver for me. The have been thru the care of many Drs and orthopedic surgeons over the years, and no one was ever able to help me. I can't thank Dr Lebl and his team at HSS for providing this exceptional care and treatment.

Dr. Cammisa and almsot his entire team was fantastic. Had one troubling interaction with one person person before being taken into the operating room who unsolicited stated - your big toe - L4 - is dead and then left. I was shocked. He did not exam me or otherwise engage and it was very upsetting.

Skill of surgeon is still to be determined based on my recovery but so far so good. :-)
