I developed problems healing in my Moh’s surgical wound on my face. I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Zakhem or a partner but none were available for over two weeks due to holiday vacations. There were no physicians or intermediate providers in the entire SSM-Dean system that I could see in Dermatology for over two weeks even though I felt I had a post surgery complication that required urgent attention. I was directed to Urgent Care or the ER. I found this lack of backup for Dermatology extremely frustrating and rather inexcusable. Ultimately I was given the appointment to see DrZakhem on 1/8/26, nearly three weeks after I sought attention to my problem. I have been a Dean clinic patient for 35 years and this is the most frustrated I have been with the Dean system. My provider is an extremely good surgeon, but his lack of availability in follow up of his operation and no one else in the department available either for nearly three weeks is a problem that needs to be corrected immediately.

I was very impressed with Dr Zakhem. And my husband also thought he was great! I had done some research about my cancer but he explained it thoroughly and explained the procedure to remove it. He also got all the cancer in the first try. I was very happy and relieved to know the cancer was gone. Thank you so much to the doctor and nurses for doing such a great job!

As a whole, it appears that there is a shortage of dermatogy MDs and technicans for biopsy tx and waiting for Mohs procedure results.
