My son stated he was in pain they gave us his diagnosis and said we would be getting discharged for his broken ankle before giving him any pain meds and he was in tears

I was impressed from the start... very clean, hallways wide and not cluttered, nurses, doctors, techs all very pleasant and answered questions. The different tests they ran were done in an expeditious manner. I was totally impressed with my care.

Of emergency room experience I have had, this was the best.

The lab girl who came in to draw blood had more compassion and care than the nurses did. I asked the nurse for a blanket because I was cold. She said she would bring one back. An hour later my husband went out to ask what happened to the blanket. This lab tech said I looked very uncomfortable and cold. She went and grabbed a blanket, unfolded it and laid it on me. All done before she even drew my blood. I can't remember her name, but know she cared even with how busy she was. An hour later, I buzzed and asked "did you all forget about me?" It wasn't until then that I got meds to help my nausea and pain. Today is the [DATE] and still suffering as the antibiotic doesn't seem to be working. I got a bandaid on my ailment and sent home.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
I know that irate and loud people get attention but that is not my style. Maybe if you considered patients that are experiencing true pain and symptoms without being loud, they are being legitimate and waiting their turn patiently. Don't just stick someone in the triage area and forget them!

It took a time to get processed, I had heart issues. Another gentleman was in dire pain. It took 30 minutes or more to get through. Need more at desk and taking vitals

I want to say that Abigail my intake nurse was amazing and very compassionate i was instantly glad i chose this er instead of covenant. And then Kelly my actual nurse, was an actual angel . She was so attentive and was literally the most comforting person ive ever met. Hands down best ER experience ive had

Dr was no help whatsoever. I know more from Google then I do what the DR told me. Looked at me for literally 30 seconds and said sorry, nothing I can do. I had to ASK what I'm supposed to do or they would have told me nothing.

Aside from the technicians for the check-in process, I was asked to come into the same exam room on at least 3 occasions to speak with 3 different medical personnel. Once I answered the questions, I was told to return to the waiting room for other instructions. It felt unorganized and a waste of time and resources.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
Suggest reviewing and developing a seamless plan to triage patients while also reducing wait times and resources. Having multiple patients entering and exiting back and forth into one exam room, and not cleaning the room between patients, makes them more susceptible to hospital-associated infections.

Have paper towel dispensers that worked. My room and the bathroom paper towel dispenser were not working.

The beds are a bit uncomfortable. It was sinking in the middle and not supporting weight. This specific bed probably needs newer mattress, was probably worn out.

Maybe the visit,could of been little faster.. My Husband had to sit in a kitchen chair for 5hrs., was erycoldin room, for both of us.. I was never offered a blanket!!

Answer the call button faster Advise me what was going on The nurse who took over at 600AM came to my room at 605AM to apologize for my 13 hour stay and agreed to begin the discharge process immediately. I was released at approximately 625AM

The appearance, brightness, and cleanliness of the waiting room.

My wrist was examined, and the meeting with the student dr and dr was held publicly in the waiting room. There was also a person who wandered out, dressed but barefoot, and he went to a group of two older ladies, saying he needed to walk far away, but had no phone, wallet, family or friends. This was a little unnerving. I was relieved he didn't come to me. I do believe some staff called a bus for him.

I just wish that there was more resources for mental health patients. I was having a mental crisis and wanted inpatient services and was extremely disappointed that the only room that they could find for me was 2 1/2 to 3 hours away in Alpena. Effectively, I got no help and I am still raw dogging it.

There just needs to be more federal funding for mental health

The doctor and nurses who provided care were wonderful. There were a couple of nurses (who were not our nurse) that didn't want to be there and they made you feel it.

I thought the whole episode was a waste of time. They didn't explain why was having an increase of symptoms nor did I get to see a neurologist who could have possibly given me some advice on why the sensitive to light, sound, and hear were increasing. They just threw me out in the lobby with bright lights that didn't help and the couch I was forced to try to sleep was uncomfortable while I waited for my ride. I certainly won't be returning to the ER. It just made my condition worse. I would have been better to stay home in total darkness.

Do something that they took my condition serious. I'm beginning to lose my faith in the health care system. At least have a neurologist close so they can examine patients with neulogical problems.

A girl at the desk at the emergency room was horrible. Ferry inconsiderate and rude. Like she didn't have time for anybody and was on Her phone and chat.The other people instead.

The respiratory therapist didn’t have a welcoming attitude. She seemed very bothered, uninterested, and very judgmental. I didn’t feel comfortable. The doctor (of Asian descent), she seemed like she wanted to rush through interacting with me. Like she didn’t want to talk or be around me for long. There was even a moment when I wanted to ask a question and she hurriedly walked away. I had to tell her to hold on. She just made me feel uncomfortable

I truly wish the doctor would have respected the amount of anxiety that had upon leaving. His notes that he wrote about me being discharged home said "she was very agreeable", was a blatant LIE. When just a few lines above he told the truth that I was extremely anxious to go home with a BLOOD CLOT IN MY LUNG. If anything I just wanted to be observed for one night When I asked the nurse for a Patient Advocate I was told and I quote "The Patient Advocate is not here to help you, they are here to force you into understanding that doctor is right." At this point I was so scared and no fight left in me. So today I sit here with HORRIBLE chest pain Terrified to go back. Apparently Bloot Clots in the Lung don't need monitoring. Thank god my PCP FEELS VERY DIFFERENT!

The amount of time spent in the waiting room was a little on the long side. I understand things happen but it’s is stressful when your child needs care. As a parent we all want our kids taken care of quickly. Overall you guys did very good.

The ER staff very quickly determined what the problem was with my wife and started a course of treatment which started solving the problem

The doctor discharged my wife before her cognition and mental status returned to baseline - the treatment was incomplete, and the literature I read states that patients experiencing these symptoms must NOT be discharged until they are back at baseline

They gave quick focused attention to my need.

At the end they let me sit and wait for an extended time before dismissal. It is like they forgot about me. We were quiet and out of their attention.. it got late for a couple old people to drive a long trip home at night.. we had to wait on two pills from the pharmacy, but those had arrived.. Still the overall experience was very good.. Just wish they would have been thoughtful at the end of service..

Tina my RN was absolutely phenomenal. Coming from a [ ] background it was amazing that she was able to make me feel like her only patient seeing and knowing how busy the ER was. Her genuine compassion and love for her job shows through her work she was a BLESSING to have ❤️
