One nurse was very rude and argued with my husband who opened the door and stood there..she said you have to stay in the room and not stand in doorway.He was just getting a little air because the room was small.He gets claustrophobic..There was no reason for the nurse to be the way she was..We were there from 4pm to the ambulance getting there to take me to Alma at 1am.No one checked on me except to take me for cat scan and to put in IV line..The place wasn’t that busy..

The speed of the ER teams response to my problem (possible stroke) was outstanding! Everything was done quickly, and every staff member was knowledgeable, and kind to me.

What could have been done to improve your experience?
ER staff training on women's health, menopause, and panic attacks. I left the ER with worse physical symptoms than when I arrived. It was deemed I was not experiencing a cardiac event I was left to wait in a room that was making my symptoms worse. I was lost in change over and left to wait, and my panic attack intensified greatly. I told my ER doctor that I had labs drawn two days prior and a TSH was drawn. All my care is done within this system so all providers have access. Although she said she would look at the result, which I state was normal and checked annually, this test was repeated. I voiced the reason I had avoided seeking care for the week when I was experiencing chest pain was because I can't afford all the medical bills I keep accruing and unnecessary testing adds to this. When a female ER doctor tells you "we don't know a lot about menopause and women's health," it does not help. This experience has left me disappointed in MyMichigan and unlikely to use this ER again.

The nurses were excellent & efficient from triage to providing Care at the bedside. Special thanks to Adam, Sarah & Desarae for providing the best care, they are awesome nurses. Thank you to Dr. Piscitelli for quick diagnosis and thoroughly explaining my condition and need for transfer. He took time to ensure all my questions were answered. Great Physician.

Vicky charge nurse was on top of everything Her and her team was unbelievable amazing working together. They saved my life big time. I cannot thank them enough for that.

The ER was very clean and the students were amazing!

The PA and students were amazing. I felt the nurses could’ve been more compassionate towards their patients. I also find it important to listen to the patients when they are expressing different aspects of their care specifically pain scale and diagnosis symptoms

Nurses were great! I don't believe the doctors were very understanding of what I came in for, which was an allergic reaction to MiraLax, in my prep for a colonoscopy the next day. I was a text book case for the warnings on the label, displaying all but one warning. I was tested for my heart and brain, receiving a ct scan, chest trays, and 18 hours later an MRI. When they couldn't find anything there, they transferred me to another MyMichigan in Clare MI and had an echocardiogram done. I spent a day and a half in the ER rooms to be told I have a few minor deficiencies that I was already aware of. At no time do I feel the doctor's listened to my concerns that I was here for an allergic reaction.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
Have the doctors listen. Arrogance padded the bill enormously. I came out with no orders except to monitor by my GP.

I don’t know what steps you guys need to take to fix whatever is going on in that emergency room but I have never felt so alone, so neglected, and so terrified in my life. I pray to God no one ever has to feel the way I did that night.

It took to long to be seen and I didn't like that they never gave be anything for pain never even asked me if i needed a Tylenol only an ice pack.

Quite the opposite. They're so afraid to treat patients with severe pain that they sent me home treated, but with no way to treat myself at home. This is unfortunate and unacceptable for people with a rib subluxation. Left to go home and cry in pain. It's just not right.

Be allowed to actually treat their patients based on their individual needs.

Although my visit was five hours, the nursing staff was very nice , apologetic and concerned. That was outstanding.

I was brought in for a leg/knee strain and the staff never really tested my leg to get a better understanding of the injury. I know time was limited there and I understand the reason for the general diagnosis., but I feel it fell short of expectations.

Had a knowledgeable dr explain things not excuse them away. Not make me wait for hours for an ambulance transfer or at least warn me it could be over 6 hours. While the care was acceptable and I usually pick this hospital over the other one in town it’s not likely I will be back. I will go straight to the hospital I was transferred to where I had an excellent experience with great care all around. It’s important to explain things and not leave patients or their caregiver in the dark.

I was in Mount Pleasant ER for five hours. I was cold and had to go out where the nurses station was and ask for blankets. The nurse came in with two bundles and threw them on the bed and left. I asked for a coffee around 3 o’clock and was ignored only To be told that the coffee shop closed at 4 o’clock. At around 530, I dressed myself and started To leave. Immediately the supervisor showed up with my test results, quickly told me the results and pointed to the door. I walked myself out. I was in pain, I have a broken tailbone. It was the most miserable ER experience of my life.

I was really grateful to one receptionist in particular. I cannot think of her name other than she's blonde, but she was really sweet and helpful, and when she saw the doctors didn't adequately fill out my paperwork, she fought to get them to do it correctly. She advocated for me when I couldn't, and was very thorough at explaining paperwork to me and offering me help. She made me feel seen and like she was on my side.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
I was there for an injury to my ankles, knees, hips, and lower back, but only my hip got x-rays and at one point I was trapped on the bed without the call button and had to further injure myself to get to the button so I could get help using the bathroom since no one was coming to check on me. It felt like some people there cared and were doing their best for me, while others were speeding through my care or going through the motions. It didn't feel very thorough or like they were really concerned for me.

You asked three times if I had weapons but never asked about tobacco,alcohol or drug use. Didnt feel like health care felt like a prison check in before visiting. This was the Mt.pleasant walk in.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
Next time I will drive the extra half hour to Alma or Clare.

Second Time in the ER department both times the restroom was overflowing with trash by the sink, paper towel towels, and I must’ve saw the cleaning person go down the hall at least three different times and it still was never emptied the whole time that I was in the art department and that was over two hours

Discharge process/paperwork could be done with a greater sense of urgency. Timeliness of discharge between when the provider discusses the discharge and the time the nurse comes back to the room with paperwork and instructions. Otherwise, great experience

Dr was very dismissive and had made up her mind on the diagnosis before talking to me and didnt listen about my symptoms. Insisted it was a cronic problem, when it was actually acute, and I have since recovered from it They also said their scanning equipment was unavailable to take complete diagnostic scans

Nursing was very good and she explained everything that was going on and asked me often if I was doing better. I ended up having a few exams and procedures until I was diagnosed and discharged.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
Not keep the emergency rooms and nurses station so cold . I couldn’t stay warm even with many warmed blankets . It seemed to me like almost everyone was wearing a long sleeve shuor light jacket.

I was there 4 hours. My Dr sent me there because as a female, my symptoms mimicked a possible cardiac event. I waited probably 30-45 minutes before anyone saw me. Then I had to suggest an EKG because my Dr felt I might have a cardiac issue. After that, back to the waiting room where I FROZE and sat for another 1.5-2 hours. Once I got up the room, I requested a heated blanket. Nurse never brought it to me. They took me for an MRI - and that gal was very nice. Back in the room, no heated blanket. Then my boyfriend arrived to tell me they were releasing me. At that point , I never heard from anyone official what my test results were, what was wrong with me , nothing! To have a visitor tell me I'm getting discharged when I had NO CONSULTATION with the Dr or answers - all for $6300 of which $2200 is my expense. So no, not impressed and mad I didn't go to Alma instead.

Have better training for helping children who are afraid of needles. I told the NP that he was anxious about bloodwork and she said “Oh well if we have to hold him down we can hold him, we hold people all the time” Like, I’m not concerned that you won’t get the blood, I’m concerned that you won’t get the blood WITHOUT traumatizing my kid. Then they didn’t wait long enough for the anxiety medication to kick in before they poked him, and the tech sat there and dug around while he screamed and cried. THEN they came back with numbing spray, after the medication kicked in, and acted like he was overreacting the first time. Do better.

PA was dismissive of symptoms and concern of a certain illness. Sent home to do tests when should have been done in hospital. Overall felt like an in inconvenience rather than a patient.
