I was very satisfied with the service from my entry to my exit. It was a busy day in ER, but I received ample treatment all along the way from the caring and competent staff. Thank you!

Every person I came into contact with in the emergency room was pleasant, helpful, and professional. Adam [ ] was my nurse. He was personable, professional, caring and very clear in his instructions for my care. Kennedy transported me to CT, gave me a warm blanket so I wasn’t chilled, and is a comforting presence during a difficult time. She is a gem! Dr. Olvera explained my diagnosis in a way that was easy for me to understand. He was very reassuring and kind. I always recommend Gladwin Hospital to friends and family for any emergency health needs. My husband and I have always had positive and thorough care there.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
The room was pretty cold so there is that but both Kennedy and Adam [ ] made sure I had warm blankets so I was comfortable.

My BP was over 212. For some 20 hours I did whatever I could , using Clonidine, to bring down my BP. I remained in crisis mode.,Then, when my BP meter wouldn’t give me a result I decide to go to the ER. My pulse when I arrived at the ER was 33. That I was to learn, was the reason the machine wouldn’t provide a result. I was puzzled by the after-visit summary’s absence of the above.

I felt like a bother to the doctor in charge. She was not friendly and I am sure I saw her roll her eyes at me. Her whole vibe was that I was bothering her.

My nurse was fantastic so caring, thoughtful kind. I was so scared and she was so sweet to me.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
I was in the back bay where the ambulance came in and I was very sick and there was a man next to me with his caregiver that That was extremely loud. That was very hard. I was there at the hospital probably 14 hours and those people were so loud.

Doc was great as was ct scan. Joe? Felt like family. All had funny relatable stories that made my anxiety go away. Doc gave me warm blanket and fanned my wound when skin glue burned. Joe gave me specimen cup to put my necklace in at ct scan. LOL. Only bad part was 2-3 hour wait. They had great teamwork. I have been [OCCUPATION] X 30 years

The respiratory specialist unfortunately disregarded my asthmatic symptoms. I was very clearly wheezing I was then told by the respiratory specialist that she doesn’t know how my lungs sound so she didn’t know if I was wheezing. Also have been to the er multiple times because I have a history of asthma my entirety of my life

Paying attention to someone’s symptoms and not disregarding them because it’s not what was learned in a book could benefit everyone

The intake nurse was incredible. The nurse caring for me was excellent, she had a quiet calm confident bedside manner. Everyone from my initial encounter and every subsequent encounter I was treated with dignity and respect. Thanks to all who cared for me.

Make sure a person isn't allergic to a medicine that is in the same family of the medicine that they are severely allergic to. If I wouldn't have spoken up I would have had a bad reaction to some medicine without a doctor's exclamation or offer of something different to help relieve my issue. My pain was never addressed. Give the patient a call light. Make sure the patient knows what's going on with a clear explanation. Monitor vitals more than once. Take patient concerns seriously. Offer a more sensory friendly space, quieter, low lights, warm blanket, no food or strong smells.

The emergency room Dr never explained anything to me about the CT scan or anything about why my blood pressure was high or what I can do to lower my blood pressure other than that (what I came in for) he was polite

I think the charting lacked a proper description of my condition. I felt like I was in distress though the provider charted that I was not. I had a pain level of 10 out of 10, had slept poorly for a week, and couldn’t lay in one position more than a few minutes. The mechanism of injury could have been listed more clearly (I.e. the back pain started after carrying water cans weighing approximately 20 pounds per each are and task was done several times per day over a week period, resulting in the pain which radiated from my spine to my mid lateral chest.

Both my nurse and doctor were wonderful, I don’t remember their names unfortunately. They were attentive and cheerful which helps when you don’t feel well. Also everyone else from the lab persons to the CT scan person were wonderful.

The. 2 women who did my intake were incredibly caring and comforting. They were calm while I was in a panic attack during an allergic reaction that occurred while I was driving, and alone. They got me back quickly and made me feel seen and safe.

Doc showed less care/ concern than the nurse assigned to me. Appeared to stand back and lack of interest in my allergic reaction history.

Was there anything that you feel was outstanding?
From the time admitted to discharge, which few other mymich health stays in Midland, Alma, as well as gladwin, I received the best care and appreciated all the levels of care received. Everyone was friendly Polite, and made it pleasant throughout all these stays. Thank you, paul frear

I have not been in the area very long. My first experience with medical care in this area was at My Michigan Health in Clare, MI . IT WAS AWFUL! So happy Gladwin was a way better experience.

Was there anything that you feel was outstanding?
I was traveling to MI from my home in [STATE] at the time of my ER visit. My doctor in [STATE] had sent my Pain Medication prescription to the Walgreens near Gladwin in MI. Unfortunately, the DEA number was not on the prescription as required by MI. Walgreens and I both tried to get through to my doctor in.[STATE] to get a new prescription sent in. In the meantime I ran out of my pain medicine. I was in excruciating pain by the time I went to the ER The nurses were very caring, but the doctor treated me like I was an Addict. I understand and respect the laws surrounding narcotics. I have had 10 surgeries trying to repair the damage done to my neck, shoulders, arms and hands from a work accident. I am disabled. I can’t hide the scars across my chest and neck, they are very clearly visible. The doctor I saw that horrible night should be ashamed of the way she treated me. The hospital should bring this to the attention of all of their staff and require training on customer service.

The Doctor was awesome and very caring.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
The x ray tech needs improvement. She was dismissive and was going to X-ray the wrong knee. When I told her that the other knee was hurting she looked at the other technician as if I didn’t know what I was talking about and she was not very gentle with my injured legs. She was impatient when I couldn’t transfer myself from the wheelchair to the table and she didn’t offer to help me. The ER wasn’t very busy at the time either.

There were no beds available in midland or west branch so I was transferred to Alma. Which was fantastic care and doctors were great. Very nice atmosphere.
