My nurse that cared for me was excellent, knowledgeable, empathetic and caring. She took time to explain things and did not make me feel worse than I already was.

The doctor could have listened to me more. Her attitude about why I was taking a certain supplement was rude. I was not feeling well and having a hard time explaining all the reasons I take it at such a late hour in the night to try and explain it. Felt like she was being condescending.

All of the medical staff and technicians were great. I felt very at ease and well cared for. They were ALL pleasant. Thank you for making sure that the people you have on staff are of the kind you want to take care of you!! Dr. Mussin, nurse Amy and Brittney, and technician Gregory are to be praised for a “ job well done”!!

The Emergency Team at Alma Hospital did a tremendous job on caring for my daughter [NAME]. I have NO complaints at all. Great staff!

Doctor came in 1 time to talk with us. Ran a bunch of test. Not explaining what, why or how. Nurse gave I.V bag then when that was done. Didn't answer page. No answer or just simply explain anything to me.

Waiting area seating was dirty. ER seemed a little under staffed. I was there on a very low priority visit for rabies exposure, so I understand why we waited so long, but 4 hours for a vaccination seems really inefficient. Great care and professionalism, however.

A little better explanation during triage regarding how it works with a concussion and clearance for sports would’ve saved us a lot of time because what we needed was clearance for him to return to sports. Spent hours waiting for a doctor to tell us well there’s no exact test and concussion protocol is this…

The nurse who put my IV in was absolutely amazing, she listened & was kind! Also the guy from CT was super great! He was also very kind & understanding with me! They significantly improved my experience. Dr was really helpful as well!

It was full so my service time was decent. I was roomed and never seen anyone for an hour or so. The provider was in the room maybe 2 minutes to tell me I had broke a bone. That is my 1 and only contact with them. I imagine the bill for her services will be hundreds. Triage nurse ordered xray. Er nurse did my cast.

I experienced a great level of care from the providers who helped me during my CT scan, and the wonderful ladies who admitted me and helped me figure out insurance. Extremely thankful to my sweet nurse Cassie. She was so kind, informative and really just helped me feel calm and understand the method to the medicine. Huge shout out to her.

I did not love the video/telehealth consult with who I believe was a neurologist or part of the stroke evaluation? It was very awkward and they did not properly introduce themselves.

The PA was rude. Came in didn’t explain anything. When asked for note or explanation just walk out of the room. Not given the chance to ask anything about the drugs that were being given to me

Need to make sure approval of CT scans and reader fees will be covered by Medicare before administering when notified they should reschedule or redo the coding to get it right so that Medicare pays it

The time is took for us to be checked into a room after checking in at the ER was about 30 minutes. Which I would understand, but no one was waiting, and no one was in behind us. Then when we got to our room, everything was explained except for the fact that we would have to wait 5 hours for an Ultra Sound tech to come from mount pleasant. It was completely unacceptable. The weekends compared to the weekday should not matter in that situation. It is a hospital’s job to make sure that the hospital is staffed with the correct staff to make sure all the needs are met and there is no reason a person should have to wait five hours in an ER room to have an ultrasound done. Due to this experience we will not be coming back to Alma hospital in the future. I feel the staffing issues in this hospital should deem the hospital unsafe as it cannot meet the needs of a patient in a timely manor.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
They could have been honest about the staffing issue and should have told us that they do not have the appropriate staff at the hospital to meet out needs so we could have went to a different hospital to be helped. This seems to be an on going issue and it needs to be addressed. In a hospital, the weekend and the week day staff should not change. The same accidents and health issues that people come across do not have a time schedule. A person does not chose when they get sick or break a leg or have a baby. The same staff provided during the week days needs to be the same for the weekends.

Less time waiting. Each time there’s an ER visit it takes an average of 5.5 hours from start to finish. Lots of idle time waiting. We were recently at ER at another hospital and were admitted, went through imaging, stitches etc and left after 2.5 hours. The ER room /beds was at least double the size.

Dr was horrible. Nurses and reception were excellent.
What could have been done to improve your experience?
Train doctors on pain care. I have never been to er for back pain and was not given any relief for 8 hours. Doctor blamed it on me for not asking for something when her treatments didn't work. I asked and she didn't give me more then 500 mg norco, which I take at home, until I'd been there 8 hours and had nurse take out iv so I could leave. The nurse advocated for me!

A little quicker resolve maybe. Just seems like it takes forever.Especially since I was in pain. Just to get the pain meds was almost two hours. When I come to the hospital/ER I have already surpassed my comfort zone , which is pretty high. I don't have anything else at home that will ease the pain or help. So when I come in , I'm coming in because I need help with managing that pain. 2 hours of uncontrolled pain after I'm at the hospital is too long for me.
