Dr. Bor-Shavit is an excellent retina specialist, and I am extremely grateful for the care she has given me. I originally went for an eye exam after noticing that something seemed “off” with the vision in my right eye. Unfortunately, I waited for a while before making the appointment because I kept wondering if I was imagining the changes. At that exam, I learned that I had a macular hole and was referred to Dr. Bor-Shavit. I had never even heard of a macular hole before and was understandably worried. When I saw Dr. Bor-Shavit, she carefully reviewed my scans and explained that the hole was already quite large and needed to be repaired before it became any worse. She took the time to explain exactly what a macular hole was, what the surgery would involve, and what I could realistically expect afterward. I had surgery about a month later. Dr. Bor-Shavit used an advanced flap technique to repair the hole and placed a gas bubble in the eye to help it heal. The surgery was successful—the macular hole closed and has remained closed. More than a year later, my right eye is healed and I have a new glasses prescription that helps make my vision clearer. My vision in that eye is not exactly what it was before the macular hole, but I understand that I already had a significant amount of damage by the time I sought treatment. I truly feel that Dr. Bor-Shavit did everything possible to give my eye the best outcome it could have. I wish I had paid attention to the changes in my vision and sought care sooner, but I am enormously thankful that I was referred to Dr. Bor-Shavit when I was. She was knowledgeable, reassuring, honest about what to expect, and highly skilled. My eye is much better today because of the care she provided, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who needs a retina specialist.

I have been treated by Dr. Bor-Shavit for more than one and half years and it has been a very good experience. She and her team have done a series of interventions and follow-ups for all of this time and executed exams and procedures as needed. I recommend her as a professional with the utmost confidence. I have suffered some side effects in my eyes as a result of diabetes type 2 and she has helped a lot to stave off and manage as best as possible the degenerative aspects of my condition.
