As my previous appointment, all staff and doctors were very good. Had 9:20 appointment. Was called back for initial eye exam around 9:40. Released to back to waiting area. Called back for optic nerve testing around 10:05. Sent back to waiting area. Saw doctor around 10:50. Left facility at 11:05. Staff member at check out for setting my next appointment appeared to have difficulty reading a calendar and setting up my next appointment.
When I arrived for my appointment, there were approximately 15 people in the waiting area. Most I talked to were seeing Doctor Joiner. At approximately 9:40, a sign was put on the check in area shelf indicating that Doctor Joiner was running behind and that if you wanted to reschedule your appointment, to see staff at front desk. Don’t understand how they could get that far behind by 9:40. There appeared to be plenty of staff to handle the patients. This is not the first time I’ve experienced this. This is truly an example of poor managing of the facility and overbooking the doctor.
If this experience continues, I will be looking for another facility for my care.

I would like for my doctor to ask if I had any questions or have any concerns and need to renew any prescriptions. The assistant always asks questions but I’m not sure he ever look at her notes.

This was a followup appointment. I waited inn the front waiting area for 30 minutes then was called back and asked questions and did an e-charting type test then took to another waiting area for another 20 minutes before actually seeing Dr. Joiner. Thankfully his exam only took about 8-10 minutes, In total I was there for a 10:45 appointment and left at 12:20. Glad my appointment was not later in the day if he continues to run later as the day goes on. I remember my initial appointment ran over two hours most of it waiting in one place or the other.

As always, Dr. Joiner was thorough in the actual patient experience, which is greatly appreciated. However, as has happened on some occasions and appointments in the past, there was a considerable wait time (40 minutes) between my appointment time and first going back for the screening. The check-in window had a sign that Dr. Joiner was running behind and that patients could reschedule their appointment if desired. There were no other appointments available for later that day, and since he is at the Vestavia office (where he indicated he wishes to see me) only on Tuesdays, there were really no realistic options but to wait. Even after the initial intake screening, there was still a very extended time to actually be seen by Dr. Joiner, who, while thorough and willing to answer questions, always seems to be rushed. The actual time with the intake technicians and their procedures, and with Dr. Joiner (~10 minutes) took approximately 30 minutes, but the entire episode from showing up at my appointment time to check out was almost exactly 2 hours.

The Laser center was exceptional. I had an appointment at 8am, I got there at 8:05, signed in, within a couple of minutes they took me back, took my vitals, put drops in my eye, I sat back in the waiting area. I was called back a few minutes later. I was done with my procedure by 8:45!

Happy that Dr. Joiner was able to see me. We did not have to wait long, maybe 20 minutes. The appointment time was perfect timing. The staff was very accommodating. We were in and out within an hour, so I appreciate our time being respected.
