I think I explained my thoughts about Dr Connell in my previous written comments. Very pleased with him!

I answered the nurse's questions to the best of my ability while trying to stay concise. the issues I saw a podiatrist for are effecting my quality of life & I have had ongoing issues for a long time. the nurse cut me off to summarize, which was fine, because I thought they just wanted me to wait to tell the doctor. The doctor came in with a big chart of the anatomy of a foot. He lightly applied pressure to 3-4 spots on the perimeter of my right foot and said "does that hurt?" etc. Then he goes okay so this plantar goes through here to here *points to the chart*, "so what you're gonna need to do is stretch for 4-6 weeks". I do stretch consistently, so if that fixed it I wouldn't be talking to him. He then quickly demonstrated 2-3 exercises, like bending the foot and stretching the achilles said "do this while brushing your teeth...you might have to do this everyday". I am typically very active (when my chronic pain isn't peaking like it is now) and these stretches are core to warming up for anyone who does cardio, at least that's what I've seen in the gym. The doctor then told me I have good shoes but that "a lot of people" get inserts (of course...i honestly figured he'd prescribe me DME or tell me what to get specifically, so i'm still not getting the point of a podiatrist at this point). he said "don't go to walgreens or cvs, go to an actual shoe store" but provided no specific recommendations, said that i should probably get something to help support my arch more? No explanation of why. i did ask why in some of these cases but it became clear to me he wasn't receptive to questions. you are correct that at this point he has not asked me a single question about my experience, only provided generic advice. he then spoke about how he gets heel pain 2x a year, at which i laughed and said that'd be really nice to only have 2x a year. he chuckled back and did not ask any follow up questions to that. he said I need a PT (I do know that too, but was hoping for some like medical advice or additional info of some kind. in hindsight i would've skipped the doctor and just spent more time researching on my own) and that I can take a steroid for the pain. he also said i could buy a wrap, put something on my foot, said it should be tighter than that, and took it back off. (the sleeve made it feel better actually!! but he didn't ask, and then took it back so thanks for that) he prescribed me a steroid & told me i didn't have to eat with it or anything. then barely said goodbye to me as he walked back to his office, which was across the hallway lol. i saw him at his computer as i walked out. when i got to the pharmacist, turns out i actually SHOULD eat with it or it'd mess up my stomach. typically when i go to the doctor they're asking my experience as it ALWAYS contributes to what i'm there for, they provide me printouts with recommendations (in this case -- particular ankle sleeves of note, type of inserts (should i focus on xyz?), info on what he ultimately 'diagnosed' me with). there's a 'diagnosis', or whatever the issue is, at the bottom of my referral page & he actually never walked through what that condition is. it says something about tendonitis of plantar or something -- it's awesome if he can barely talk to me and know what's going on to that extent! but at least tell me what it means, at the minimum.

Did not listen to anything I had to say he had his own assumption. This is what we’re gonna do and that’s it. I think I know my body better than anybody else and I’m in more pain now than ever and it’s just ridiculous.

One and done! I researched SSM Health podiatrists who treated foot/ankle conditions like mine. Unfortunately, the visit outcome was less than satisfactory. No need to follow up with seeing Dr Connell again

He’s the best. The doctors who refuse to cut toenails should be replaced with those who will.

The survey is designed poorly. Does not fit phone page and repeats itself
