Bruce Terrin, MD

Dr. Terrin is an absolute gem of a physician. He is truly one in a hundred million, and I cannot adequately express how disappointed I am that Hackensack Meridian Health has chosen not to renew his contract. The compassion, dedication, and genuine care he demonstrates toward not only his patients but their entire families is unmatched. He is the kind of physician who reminds you why people enter medicine in the first place. Dr. Terrin has cared for my family for approximately 40 years. My parents brought my siblings and me to him throughout our childhood and adolescence, and now I have entrusted him with the care of my own two children. He has been there for our family through routine childhood illnesses, major medical diagnoses, and unimaginable loss. As a pediatric oncologist, Dr. Terrin diagnosed and treated my cousin, who suffered from an extraordinarily aggressive form of aplastic anemia. Despite the devastating outcome after two years of treatment, the care, dedication, and compassion he showed my cousin and our entire family have never been forgotten. Decades later, when my youngest son was diagnosed with Alport syndrome, Dr. Terrin listened to me sob on the phone as I struggled to process what this diagnosis meant for my child. He didn't rush me off the phone. He didn't treat me like just another parent on his schedule. He reassured me that we would figure it out together. That moment is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You cannot teach that level of compassion, and you certainly cannot replace it by simply assigning his patients to another physician. I find it incredibly disheartening that a healthcare organization would allow a physician with this level of dedication, experience, and longstanding patient loyalty to leave its practice. While I recognize that I am not privy to the circumstances surrounding this decision, I sincerely hope HMH understands what it is losing. I will not be remaining with this practice. I intend to follow Dr. Terrin wherever he continues practicing, and I will remain his patient, and keep my children under his care, until the day he decides to retire. I strongly suspect that many other families who have had the privilege of being cared for by him will make the same decision. I also intend to formally communicate my disappointment to HMH Patient Relations. Healthcare should be about more than numbers, contracts, and administrative decisions. It should be about people. Dr. Terrin has spent decades demonstrating exactly what exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered medicine looks like. HMH is not simply losing a physician. It is losing generations of patient trust, loyalty, and the kind of extraordinary care that cannot easily be replaced. I sincerely hope those responsible for this decision understand the magnitude of that loss.

Staff is excellent and doctors are well trained and amazing

Dr Terrin has been an integral part of my child's health. Starting from the days when he used to be very sick to slowly growing up under Dr Terrin's care, we have been very happy that he is there to care for our son. The practice is very responsible to call back immediately when the child is sick during holidays or nights or weekends. We have always been able to squeeze in a sick visit in the middle of a busy season. The school paperwork gets emailed in time always. The shots in office ( given by Dr. Terrin himself, not the nurse) are painless. Everyone in this office have been amazing for the last 7 years. My two children, my nephews and other family/ friends all see the same practice because I started referring everyone to this group. We have to travel a good 45 to 50 minutes to see the doctors, but I think it is more than worth it to have someone responsible care for your children. Dr. ( ), Dr. ( ) and Dr. ( ) have all taken care of my children at different times over the years through well visits and sick visits. Each one is unique and caring and kind in his/her own way. Never once have I felt let down by these physicians. Never have I felt that they could have done more.
