Dr. Blake Ward deserves a full 10 out of 10. I’ve lived with chronic pain for six years—some days nearly unbearable—but I suffered through it because of the trauma and the emotional toll I've accumulated from not only my hips, but other health issues. The number of times I've been discriminated against or profiled for completely unrelated issues is truly horrifying–oh the stories I could tell. The constant self-advocating is draining. So, I need to pick and choose what's worth the fight and whether I even have the energy for it. When I met Dr. Ward, I was bracing myself for another uphill battle. But instead, I was met with genuine compassion, respect, and attentiveness. When I shared the major physical health events I’ve lived through, he immediately responded with “I see that!”—not just as a clinical observation, but with visible shock and sympathy for all I’ve endured at a young age. He focused on my physical history in detail, especially everything I’ve been through with my hips, but also acknowledged the other major, life-altering events I’ve faced. It was clear he had taken time to review my medical history before the appointment. I’ve never had a provider seem so prepared. And not once did he bring up my depression or suggest that mental health or "stress" was in any way contributing to my pain, not once did I feel dismissed or gaslit. That alone was a relief I can’t overstate. He didn’t fight me on seeking answers. He listened, believed me, and made me feel like I was worth his time and deserving of help. That’s rare. And when it happens, it gives me the strength to speak up—not to criticize, but to recognize. Dr. Ward’s kindness wasn’t performative. It was real. And paired with his clear expertise, it gave me hope that I could finally check one issue off my long list of unanswered health concerns. I have faith he will work with me until we find an answer. That matters more than I can express. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic care.
