Dr. Young has been my primary care physician for many years.
He is kind; he listens carefully to the information I am giving to him, and he doesn't interrupt. I trust him
I wish more doctors at ARMC were like him. I have had a few bad experiences - for example - a ortho MD was very rude,
I asked him to look at my knee (which was very swollen and painful. He told me, from across the room, that he had no need to do that - he had looked at the X-rays. I told him I would still like him to look at my right leg and knee. He again said he had looked at X-rays, and we could try PT and see if that helped. I started to cry, and I apologized explaining to him that my husband had committed suicide just a couple of weeks earlier. He said he knew, and still remained about 5 ft away by the counter, and never palpated my knee. He acted annoyed that I asked him again.
I call that a total lack of caring and concern - not just about the problem with my knee, but his lack of concern about the recent devastating loss of my husband to suicide, which I witnessed as he ran out to our driveway
What the heck are they training doctors today about compassion and caring?
I read a very good post recently that ALL doctors should have access to in their desk drawers:

Knowledgeable, compassionate, resourceful, all things you want your doctor to be. He has a good mix of professionalism and human understanding in his connection to his patients.
