From my one visit, it's my opinion Dr. Sutherland is an exceptional provider. What is discerning Is the communication to other areas: xray, labs, 02 nighttime test. Scheduling was difficult. I was never notified to make the additional appointments. After eight working days of not receiving calls for scheduling of additional testing, I called Dr. Sutherland's office. It appears the orders were not transmitted correctly. When the person helping me heard my frustration, she was very attentive and took care of all the appointments & scheduling within the day.For my lab work, I waited three working days so I could be confident the orders had been received. When I arrived for my lab work (no appointment needed), I was surprised and disappointed the orders hadn't yet been received. I waited while all that was worked out.When calling the scheduling desk at the beginning of all of this, I asked if it was their protocol to call patients to schedule as I was surprised for eight working days I hadn't been contacted. They responded that their contact list was very long and they tried to prioritize. While I do believe each patient needs to be their own advocate, my limited experiences with St. Alphonsus takes it to a whole new level. Now I know I, the patient, needs to follow up on every single thing because I can't depend on the communication being transmitted to the necessary departments and if I need something scheduled, I need to call because the scheduling desk has made it pretty clear they are overworked and understaffed.

It is always a good experience to meet with Dr. Sutherland. She is familiar with my medical history and is ready to prescribe new medications in order to alleviate problems that may be due to current medications. She makes referrals to other specialists as warranted.

Dr. Sutherland is awesome. She takes time and is detailed and explains things in a manner that allows you to understand. Some doctors try to impress you with using too much medical jargon, but Dr. Sutherland talks to you.
